Hello,
STORY:
I have had oil pressure issues since the trip to Watkins Glenn the beginning of this summer. My fox almost lost all oil pressure when i came to a stop at a stop sign. It dropped right down to red, but not zero. There was blue smoke coming from out back. I am pretty sure it was from the tailpipes. The rest of the day the oil pressure dropped to just above red when idle, but any other time it was fine. I drove it around the track and back home. I put 20w-50 Valvoline VR1 oil in it the next day. Oil pressure has now not been an issue since that day. But ever since then the car has started to smell very bad. It will give you a headache when you let it run for a while. This car has no cats. So when i rev it up to 4-4500 or so there is a small puff of blue smoke, nothing major tho. The car smells bad when you drive it down the road with the windows down. It gives me a headache just driving it. I have replaced the valve cover gaskets and tried another pvc valve. Where should i plumb a mechanical gauge to just to see what is actually going on? Thanks!!!

The car stopped smoking after the first incident. I knew it was getting some sort of oil pressure. It was full of oil. I was going to tow it home but the group i ran out with told me to just go for it. I didnt really care, i didnt drive all the way out there for nothing. There is some oil on the back of the engine from leaks, but it isnt really "wet". I am wondering if the air tube inlets in the back of the heads spun a little so they arent completely covering the holes anymore and im getting a lot of exhaust carbon build up under the hood. I have a oil pressure gauge at home, i just need to get a install kit. I also removed all spark plugs to all cylinders and they are all dry, no oil is getting in there. I have not done a compression test yet, but the car will still get up and move, so it hasnt lost any power yet.. When this incident happened i put Castrol high mileage oil in it. I will never use castrol again. When i took the oil out it came out as thin as water. But i took it to get it tested and there were no contaminants in it ie: water, fuel. Engine has 130k on the odometer....

Use a steel braided line for the gauge feed line. Autometer makes one and it comes with all needed fittings. Get 6'. Use sealant on the pipe threads but not the an threads.

The oil level hardly ever goes down!! It maybe goes down about 1/2 quart every month or so.. The cylinders are dry too... Very weird, i dont have oil pressure issues now tho, due to adding 20w-50 oil. Now it just smells. But it hardly consumes any oil, thats why i am so stumped...

The engine needs to be freshen. It would be nice if there was a magical fix but it's all jsut hope. The thicker oil i helping now but won't for long. Good luck.
