If you were handed the keys to a 2013 Shelby GT500 and tasked with doing a cross-country road trip from Georgia to California, would you take a direct route or would you take your time and see the sights and sounds that the southern United States has to offer? The guys over at Inside Line decided on the latter when Ford handed the keys over to a brand new Deep Impact Blue 2013 GT500 right after the car’s press launch at Road Atlanta last month. Seven states, more than 20 mpg and 3,300 miles later they arrived back in Los Angeles.
Of course, the Inside Line duo of Dan Edmunds and Kurt Niebuhr didn’t just visit the standard tourist spots on their trip. The two took a route that included all things Shelby, whether it was the small town of Shelby, TX (no relation), Shelby’s current headquarters in Las Vegas, or the old Shelby shops in Venice and near the LAX airport. Other stops included the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega, AL and the sight of the future Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX.
