Hood Pin Install

Hey Guys,

I decided to go with the Steeda Hood Pins (Captive Style) for my new hood- I was told that the Ford Racing ones can rust and people have had problems with them...

I am looking for some advice on how to install them, granted this is a fresh paint job so I don't want to screw up the paint on the hood.

What do you guys think?!

Put Blue painters tape "delicate surfaces" around the areas that you will be drilling, the tape will catch all the metal shards from the dilling, dont be lazy do both sides of the hood or else you will get them EVERYWHERE.

After you install the pins, cover the tips with wax and close the hood, this will give you a precise spot as to where to start drilling. Start with a small drill and work your way up in increments, this will keep the hole centered.

When drilling the small holes from the top of the hood for the screws holding the hole covers on, BECAREFUL NOT TO SNAP THE BIT, like i did. The small holes require a small bit and i was using my BIG drill, on the very last hole, the bit snapped and chipped some paint. I would recomend using a smaller drill for those holes, if you see the bit wobbling, STOP.

Good luck, its not that hard a job , just a lil nerve racking, once youve done it once, its not so bad.

Is there a special placement for the hood pins..? I heard that the Steeda hood pins replace the rubber stops on the hood. Do you know if this is true.

I have the UPR kit, they replace the radiator supports, i guess the Steeda is very similair, they are just more towards the outer edge of the hood where the bump stops are.

Good luck man. No way was I gonna drill holes in my hood. I got the wms Stealth pins.

Releases with the factory latch and no holes.

Woah! Those are SICK!! I don't know if I could justify the price difference for just hood pins though... I only paid 40 bucks and those are $199.99!!

I used Peanut Butter on the bottom side of the hood..

Make sure it is lined up 110% PERFECT!!!!

I love my stealth hood pins. I have to point them out or you would never know they were there.

Also, I have the cdc hoot struts, and they don't hold up an aftermarket hood, they told me to find some stronger ones, those bastards!!!

LOL can't do stick on's with my aftermarket hood.l.......Pics of the aftermarket hood will be up tomorrow night or Sunday... Just got it back from the painter- probably putting it on tomorrow...
