I've been gathering information about cams and intakes that I'm looking into buying so now I feel I should be gathering info on Engine removal if a necessity. I have a 86 Notch with a borg warner T5 5spd and a Carbd 5.0... What I'm looking at most likely doing is getting a new radiator to put in it, possibly a new camshaft, I feel like now would be a easier time to install when the engines out instead of when it is still in and with the radiator in the way, and I have to replace my rear main which I am not sure if it is a one or two piece as I'm not sure what year the block actually is. Should I just leave the engine in and try to somehow snake the rear main between the trans by pulling the trans back? How difficult is a cam swap without a radiator in the way.... While I think about it I 'may' have a bad motor mount, as my motor rocks a lot when under throttle (is there a way to check how bad a mount is?), so a engine removal might be a necessity... How difficult is it to line the engine back up with the trans when re-meeting the two, Should I just pull the transmission with the engine??? Would I bolt up the motor mounts first and then bolt the trans and block together or vice versa? I have never removed a engine before and the deepest I've gone is to the intake... I feel that a carb'd motor should be somewhat simple and a good start though!... Need more room in the garage......
