1998 suby outback wagon
this was going to be a tough one!
customer contacted me last week & asked if i could make the car look better, not perfect but "better" hmmm.
having no clue when it was detailed last, all he remembered wass putting a coat of wax on it about 3 years ago! yikes!
he lives in harlem but works in stamford, ct. the wagon was dropped off the same day he made that call.
i gave him a ride to the 7 train & said "see you next year".
while some of you were drinking it up celebrating the new year,i was putting in some extra night hours on this one.
holidays are overrrrrrrrrated to me! yea, i worked late on new years eve & i also worked on new years day as well.
happy new year to me!
i wanted to get a few shots of the car before washing it so i could see the complete difference when comparing the final pics a few days later.
paint misted with citrus cleaner before being taken outside to wash.
driver fender after wash & clay.
driver fender after wash, clay, compound, polish & isopropyl alcohol wipedown.
proof that 3M Ultrafine Machine Polish contain zero fillers.
sealant & wax have not been applied yet!
crystal clear & flawless paint reflection is shown here in this picture where the
stamped lettering inside the housing is clearly visible.
sealant & wax have not been applied yet!

the paint would be brighter if it were black but its not.
its a very ugly doodie brown, that's the best way i could describe it =)
lets see how the driver side of the hood is coming out.
sealant & wax have not been applied yet!
trunk lights
before swirls
wet sanded with 1500
compounded & polished
head & tail lights were also wetsanded, compounded & polished
passenger fender & corner of the front bumper had a bondo & spray can paint job.
i was told there was a spray can in the trunk & if i see anything i can go over it.i tried to hold a straight face as he told me this.
the only 2 things i could think of was the bad body work the customer tried to do himself &
yankees pitcher mariano rivera because his first name is mariano.
passenger fender
first pic might make you giggle a little bit.
every car needs some BIG "A" LOVE!
the shop was really cold this morning. i had to keep my bottles of
3M compound & polish close to the propane heater to keep the products warm.
front middle of the roof.
the wagon deffinitly is not perfect. it has its rock chips, deep scratches, some key marks, door dings, some bondo & spray can work & a piece of rust under the gold vynal stripe on the drivers side quarter panel. even with all its blemishes i was still able to save this paint job & put the shine back into her.
the swirls were so deep but i worked my magic with the wheel & removed them 100%!
do you remember what the car looked like when it first rolled into the shop?
heres a reminder of how bad the paint was!
whole juan was giving the suby a final inspection, i picked the customer up at the train station
by main street & roosevelt ave in my truck.
here is what we presented him with:
im pretty sure this is taken from the left side of the trunk hatch, right under the badge.
one of the doors.
same door again.
front of the roof, in the center.
drivers quarter panel.
same quarter panel.
hood 1.
hood 2.
hood 3 thats a really deep scratch.
drivers side right under the roof rack in the back of the wagon.
hood 4.
hood 5.

view from the back of the wagon, center of the roof.
mariano is watching UFC while we double check the car with
fresh microfiber towels, some spray wax & a bunch of tooth picks, paint & tooth brushes.
who will be the first lucky girl to "dance on my pole" in the new year? hmm...
it havent used it yet & i doubt it ever will. i installed it a few months ago after a nasty break up with my long time girlfreind. i was going to have some fun with it, that's all im going to say. we eventually got back together & the pole was never used. ill keep it up for the fun of it though =)
sometimes ill be in the middle of working on a car & ill imagine a naked
carmen electra or kim kardashian dancing on it! yea, really!
working here in the shop is supposed to be fun & it is! i love my new shop! 2009 was a great year for BIG "A" DETAILING
