Best Exhaust Route

Hey guys I know there is a ton of thread about this but none answer my questions. I was talking to a local car guy who has an amazing collection and is working on his sons 2002 Mustang GT Convertible and for an exhaust he told me to go with headers straight piped to flowmoaster 40's for the best proformence. But when I was tlaking to my step Dad he said that you want something that will regulate even flow like an H or X-pipe. So now I'm not sure what to do, I know I want to go cat-less. Currently all I have is Magnaflow Cat-Backs (not the Magnapack one) So what would be the best route to go for proformence and sound?

best bet is long tube headers with a cross over of some kind (x or h is really just sound preference with no appreciable affect on performance)

and just stick with the catback you have, all performance mufflers make very close the same hp. no sense in doing things twice

actually, your magnaflows probably make more hp than a set of flows would

flows sound great but actually do flow that well, magnaflows flow very well

do some googling on muffler flow comparisons, lots of good articles out there

Thanks! Thats what I was thinking about doing cause I like the way mine sound and I didn't think straight pipes would be good. But what do you suggest for headers? And for an x-pipe? It seems most people go with a Bassani X, is the magnaflow X jsut as good?

Hey I got American Racing long tube headers with Bassani X pipe n Bassani aftercat mufflers n the car performs n sounds awsome well worth the bucks

i've heard good thing about american racing headers, plus i think you can get a discount via NYM because they are a site sponsor

i personally have kooks long tubes with their matching x-pipe, they fit great and have no leaks

just stay away from the cheaper brands, they tend to have fitment issues and require the headers to be removed if you need to pull the trans, which is a huge pain!

also, try to purchase the mid-pipe from the same manufacturer as the headers, that way you'll alleviate any fitment issues between brands of parts

That does seem like it would be a good idea. I was thinking either bassain O/R X or Magnaflow and idk about the headers yet, I will have to do more research
