3.73 Gears what to expect?

I am thinking about getting 3.73 gears for my 96 cobra. How will this effect the way it drives? How much will the RPM change in 5th gear at 60 MPH? Right now it is at 2k rpm at 60. How much faster if any faster does this mod. do?

well I put 3.73s and I love em...have to understand the car is at a higher rpm on the parkway but it did not change the way I drive at all...I can tell you to go for it...u will love em.

Gears are definitely the best bang for your buck mod, they don't increase hp but it will make it a whole new car.

get 4.10's . . my buddy has the same car and he had 4.10s in it and then his rear end blew so he decided to get 3.73s for better gas mileage. . end of story is the gas mileage wasnt that much different but the way it made the car feel was . . .get 4.10s!

I just put a set of 4.10's in and I love em.Yes, that's in a V6 (cue the laughing...now) anyways. From what i've read while I was researching what ratio to get I saw that for Forced Induction (Turbo, Super Charged, n2o) you shouldn't go much higher than 3.55's. I believe the 96 cobras have the 3.27. So 3.55's wouldn't be that much of a change. If you go much higher, you'll get up off the line faster, but at the cost of top end. 4.10's might be too much, 3.73's would prolly be alright.

I always tell everyone that ask Me not to fear the GEARS, Gears will always be the best bang for your bucks when it come to Modding your Ride, 373 will put your RPM's right about 2400 at about 60mph, good luck on what ever gears you pick

I have 4.10's and they are great!

A lot of people who have a 5sp use 3.73's especially if its a DD

A lot of people who have autos use 4.10's.

Good luck on whatever you choose

Put 3.73's in a few months ago and a SCT tuner....def can feel a big differance over stock but if you dont do ALOT of highway driving like me to work everyday...4.10's with a set of drag radial's is the way 2 go... i might be switching to 4.10's next summer if the car isn't supercharged by then.

3.73 or 4.10 Ford Racing does not make a 3.90 Motive does and they tent to make more noise then Ford Racing. I like 3.73 I picked up .02 tenths with them, it also depends on what tire size you plan to run at the track vs trap rpm so keep that in mind. :)

If you are going to do gear do at least 4.10's IMHO Going from 3.55 to 4.10 in a Mach 1 is night day and probably the perfect gear.

12.88@109 with 4.10's, x-pipe, catback, cold air, in a 03 Mach 1 in ok condtions....

In a NA 4V 4.6 4.10 is the minimum I'd do!

In hind sight I probably should have went with 3.73's. 4.10's for this setup is too much, it's a daily driver and it's tough not to smoke the tires off.

^^ terminator? yeah i wanted 4.10's bad but after research and my shop's advice went with 3.73, everyone said 4.10 is too much gear for the termis. no traction. so very happy with 3.73's here
